Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarship opportunities are open to all of school district of Janesville students.  The following list of scholarships contain eligibility requirements and applications for the specific scholarship.

Lavern Anderson Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2010 by Mary Anderson as a memorial to her husband Lavern to provide for post high school educational opportunities for young people from Janesville, WI, who will be attending an accredited college, university, or technical school. Lavern was the librarian at Lincoln Elementary School. He retired in 2006. Eligibility guidelines include: must have attended Lincoln Elementary School; intending to study agriculture, education, or healthcare; top 50% of class ranking. Preference may be given for financial need, but is not a requirement.


George and Harriet Christopherson Scholarship

Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from a Janesville High School who will be attending an accredited technical school. Student must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Preference may be given for financial need, but is not a restriction. Letter of recommendation from is teacher is required.


Janesville High School Class of ’57 Scholarship **New**

Established to provide post high school educational opportunities for graduating seniors in Janesville, WI who will be attending an accredited college, university or technical school. Student should be in the top 50% of class rank. Student should demonstrate financial need.


Janesville Multicultural Teacher Scholarship

Established to provide post high school educational opportunities to assist multicultural individuals who intend to teach in the School District of Janesville receive a K4-12 teaching certification. Applicants must be identified as African American, Asian, Latino or Native American on school registration forms. Must pursue a career in the field of education. Must submit two letters of recommendations from adults other than relatives and be willing to sign an agreement stating they agree to apply for employment within the School District of Janesville. If offered a position, applicants must be willing to complete three years of successful employment.


Janesville Woman’s Club Association Scholarship

Was established to provide awards for Janesville graduates to attain post high school education. Preference may be given for academic excellence and/or financial need. Student must prepare an essay in response to the following two questions: "What is your definition of community service? Give one example of what you've done to enhance the lives of individuals and/or the community at large?

 

Mae Theisen Scholarship

Established by a long time Janesville educator for a Janesville graduating senior intending to pursue a career in education. Top 20% of class ranking and financial need.


Daughters of the American Revolution

Was established to provide for post high school educational opportunities for young people from northern Rock County, WI. Recommendations will be based on academic excellence, commitment to field of study, and financial need; consideration may be given to DAR members.


JAREA - Kathryn Mary Swingle Memorial Scholarship

Established to benefit students from North Rock County, WI, including the School for the Visually Handicapped, intending to go into the field of education who will be attending an accredited college or university.


Rubie McWilliam Scholarship Fund

Established to provide post high school educational opportunities for young people from Milton and Janesville, WI. Eligibility guidelines include: student should be in the 10-20% of class ranking, student must demonstrate good citizenship, school involvement, and a willingness to broaden academic horizons. Preference may be given for financial need, but is not a restriction.


Rock County Agricultural Scholarship

This scholarship was established to assist young people graduating in the current year from Rock County high schools who have been active in agricultural programs and projects.


Ronald J. Jelinek Memorial Fund for Welding Education

The Ronald J. Jelinek Memorial Fund for Welding Education is to provide educational opportunities to learn or improve welding skills. Application is open to anyone living in Rock County.


Wilson Rawls Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist and encourage literary minded students residing in the United States to receive a post high school undergraduate education at a four year college or university. Candidate must have a GPA of 3.5 throughout all four years of high school and provide three letters of recommendation; one each from a teacher, guidance counselor, and employer or community leader. Candidate must also submit a written essay of 200-400 words in length describing their future education, personal life, community service, and career goals.

 

Polish Heritage Club Scholarship

The Polish Heritage Club of Wisconsin-Madison will award a $1000 scholarship to provide tuition assistance for students pursuing a secondary education. The Scholarship Committee of PHCWI will review the application materials submitted by each student to ensure that criteria have been met and present to the Board of Directors their candidate for the scholarship. The scholarship check will be awarded upon verification of completing one semester of the coming school year. The decisions of the Scholarship Committee and PHCI-BOD are final and are not subject to review.

 

WTS Transportation Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist and encourage literary minded students residing in the United States to receive a post high school undergraduate education at a four year college or university.
